The Kansas City Royals selected righthander Miguel Ascensio from the Philadelphia organization in yesterday’s Rule V Draft. Ascensio went 12-5 last season for single-A Clearwater. As part of the rules of the Rule V Draft, Ascensio must spend the entire 2002 season on the Royals Major League roster or be offered back to the Phillies for just fifty-thousand dollars.
