The state is increasing less able to afford the services citizens expect it to provide. State Budget Director Brian Long has seen the state’s financial future, and it is dark. A third of a million dollars in budget cuts already made this year is not enough. Long says 60 percent of the state’s general revenue comes from individual income taxes It’s lagging and Long says the economy is likely to only make things worse. Long fears state programs could take another hit of as much as $200-Million. He adds some state workers might lose their jobs.
