The Talent for Senate Campaign has launched a drive aimed at winning the votes of Missouri’s women. Mary Matalin, who serves as Assistant to President George W. Bush and Counselor to Vice President Dick Cheney, was on hand at a luncheon in St. Louis to kick-off the Women for Talent Coalition. Former St. Louis area Congressman Jim Talent, the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by Senator Jean Carnahan, is hoping to highlight his stands on issues of importance to women. His likely opponent is Senator Jean Carnahan. Former Governor Roger Wilson appointed Carnahan to the seat following the posthumous election win of the late Governor Mel Carnahan over then-Senator John Ashcroft. Democrats are hoping Carnahan decides to run next year but she has yet to announce her intentions.
