There’s a new chair of the Agriculture Committee in the Missouri House. Sam Berkowitz, from Memphis, will serve as the new man in charge. Berkowitz has not served on the committee before. Wes Shoemyer of Clarence had been serving as Vice Chairman of the Committee and was seen as one of the possible replacements when Representative Gary Wiggins died last July. But he believes the fact he’s a freshman legislator and that probably kept him out of the chairmanship for now. Berkowitz says people should judge his qualifications by the fact he does come from a rural area and keeps up with farm issues.
