“Kill the umpire!” It’s a phrase sometimes heard at ballparks throughout the nation. But don’t say it in Springfield. The Springfield-Greene County Park Board Youth Baseball Council has endorsed an idea to toughen the rules against those who, “participate in acts of criminal assault, harassment, property damage, or unlawful trespassing at sporting events.” And, the Parks Director hopes Springfield City Council approves a new ordinance using the same language. That could ban jeers from players and fans unhappy with ball and strike calls.
