The State Senate committee looking into election reform has wrapped up a series of public hearings. Issues arising at hearings throughout the state included: the decisre for a standardized counting system, improved disclosure laws for for contributions, and making it easier to vote. State Senator Anita Yeckel, the Chair of the Committee, says voter responsibility came up frequently, as well. Yeckel and others say voters must become better informed – on the issues, on how to vote, and on how to make sure they’re registered to vote. The Senate Committee now gets together with the House Committee studying election reform to reach common ground on some of the concerns.
