Discussion goes on in Washington on the priorities for a farm bill. Senator Jean Carnahan is weighing in on some of her priorities on the legislation. She wants to see a safety net for farmers, to support them during low-price and low-yield years. She is supporting incentives and tax breaks to encourage the development of of ethanol, soy-diesel, and other clean burning, renewable bio-fuels. Senator Carnahan also wants to see assistance to young farmers and country-of-origin labeling on meat and fresh vegetables. The current farm bill expires next September.
