Missourians produced 10 million tons of garbage last year or about two tons for each Missourian. Officials with the Department of Natural Resources say more of that garbage is being recycled. Dennis Hansen with the DNR solid waste management program says the percentage of garbage recycled in the state has continued to grow over the past decade to the current level of 38%. That compares to 10% about ten years ago. Hansen says consumers can help continue the recycling trend by using recycled products. He says that keeps the recycled product market going.
