Governor Holden has signed an executive order activating military policemen from the Missouri Army National Guard to the state’s two nuclear power facilities. Military police from the 2175th Military Police Company based in St. Clair have been sent to the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant near Fulton. Others will guard the nuclear research reactor on the Columbia campus of the University of Missouri. State officials emphasize security has been tight at the two sites ever since September 11th. They say the guard will provide a security overlay as part of a precaution suggested by the federal government when it issued its latest terrorist alert.
