The Kansas City Royals have named a pair of new coaches to their staff for the 2002 season. Bob Schaefer will serve as the Royals new bench coach while John Mizerock will be the new bullpen coach. Tom Gamboa, who was the Royals bullpen coach in 2001, will take over as K.C.’s first-base coach. Schaefer will replace Jamie Quirk as the Royals bench coach. Quirk was let go after eight seasons in that capacity earlier this month.
