Governor Bob Holden has signed legislation guaranteeing that Missourians will not have to pay state taxes on the federal tax rebates mailed out as part of the Bush Administration’s tax cutting program. The legislation was passed during the special session. It made a one-time change to state law to exempt the federal tax rebate from state tax liability. With the legislation, the maximum amount of state tax a Missourian could have paid on the rebate was $18 for a single filer and $36 for a married couple.
