Blake Stein survived a shaky first-inning to earn his sixth win of the season as the Kansas City Royals took care of Detroit 8-6. Stein allowed a grand slam to Randall Simon in the first, but then threw four shutout innings to improve to 6-8. The Tigers self-destructed in this one, committing five errors – four in the fourth inning. Carlos Beltran homered and knocked in thre runs in the win for Kansas City, a win which snapped a five-game losing streak.
