Governor Bob Holden has announced he’ll soon call up members of the Missouri National Guard to provide additional security at the state’s commercial airports. President Bush had asked the nation’s governors to call up about 4,000 members of the National Guard to perform security functions at 720 checkpoints in the nation’s 420 commercial airports. The Guard members are expected to be sent to airports in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Springfield and could be sent to smaller airports throughout the state.
