The State Supreme Court has set an October 24th execution date for Stephen Johns, who was convicted of the murder of 17-year-old Donald Voepel Junior in St. Louis. On February 18th of 1982, Johns shot Voepel to death during a robbery at the Onyx service station where Voepel worked. Johns was convicted and sentenced to death by a St. Louis City Circuit Court jury. His motion to have his case heard by the U.S. Supreme Court was denied last year.
