Matt Morris won his 8th straight decision and his 20th game of the season yesterday as the St. Louis Cardinals completed a three game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers with an 8-2 win. Morris pitched seven innings and struck out a career high 13 batters in the victory. Albert Pujols knocked in three runs in the win, he now has 120 runs batted in this season. That is a new National League record for rookies. The Cardinals hold a two-game lead in the National League wildcard race after this win. They are still 4 1/2 games out of first in the National League Central race.
