The Missouri Department of Revenue has come up with a tax break for those affected by the terrorist attacks. Victims in the air or on the ground – taxpayers who had direct or indirect ties to businesses destroyed, taxpayers whose records have been destroyed, and relief workers – all are being given more time to file tax returns or make payments. The state is giving them an additional 120 days to file returns or make payments. Revenue Director Carol Fisher doesn’t expect many Missourians to qualigfy, but she says some will and they deserve the break. Those seeking the extension need to write “September 11, 2001 – Terrorist Attack” in red ink at the top of the returns they file.
