It appears state lawmakers will consider replacing a tex credit program with a pharmacy assistance program for the elderly when they meet in a special legislative session after Labor Day. A plan put forward by the Governor’s Task Force on Drug Prescriptions for Senior Citizens would see elderly couples earning up to $17,000 a year to pay a $25 enrollment fee. Couples earning up to $23,000 would pay a $10 dollar fee. Senior citizens would pay 40 percent of their drug costs, with benefits capped at $5,000 per year.
