Cal Ripken hit a three-run home run in the third inning to give the Baltimore Orioles a lead they would never relinquish as the O’s beat the Kansas City Royals 5-2 last night. Chad Durbin (7-11) takes the loss after allowing five runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. For the second time in eight days, Calvin Maduro (2-3) stymied the Royals by allowing just two runs on two hits in 6 2/3 innings. The Royals only runs came on a Carlos febles second-inning two-run home run, his first of the season.
