Trent Green hit Derrick Mayes with a 29-yard touchdown pass and Dante Hall returned a punt 92 yards for another score as the Kansas City Chiefs won their pre-season opener over the Washington Redskin 20-0. This was the first visit back to Arrowhead Stadium for former Chiefs Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer who now coaches the Redskins. His team could manage just 99 yards of total offense in the loss. Chief quarterbacks Trent Green, Todd Collins, Bubby Brister and Ryan Helming combined to complete 23 of 39 passes for 285 yards and a score. They did not throw an interception.
