Despite recent concerns about problems involving its nuclear power plant in Callaway County, in central Missouri, AmerenUE maintains nuclear power is safe. It says the nuclear parts of any nuclear power plant are among the safest parts in the facility. As for spent nuclear fuel, it’s dangerous. But AmerenUE says there is so little spent fuel created that there is enough storage room at the facility to accomodate the waste until 2024.
