Lawmakers who succeeded in pushing an anti-tobacco bill through the Legislature this year are considering whether to revisit the bill next year. The bill cracks down on youth smoking, but criticism of it has intensified since the session ended. State Representative Tom Hoppe of Kansas City, a co-sponsor, understands there might be some problems with the law, but he does not see much need for change. Representative Craig Hosmer of Springfield, another co-sponsor, worries that state law interferes with local efforts and wants the Legislature to reconsider the law.
