Jon Lieber improved to 12-4 on the season, allowing just a run on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings as the Chicago Cubs beat the Kansas City Royals 2-1 on Sunday. With the loss, the Royals set a Major League record with their 21st consectutive one-run loss on the road. The Royals last win away from home by the slimmest of margins came way back in July of last season. That happened in Chicago against the White Sox. Paul Byrd allowed two-runs in six innings to take the loss, falling to 1-3 on the season.
