For the second straight year Kansas City Royals first baseman Mike Sweeney has been named to the American League All-Star team. Sweeney was named as a reserve yesterday, he is the only Royals player on the squad. He is hitting .344 this season with 21 home runs and 64 runs batted in. The Cardinals will have two representives in Tuesday’s Classic. Rookie third baseman Albert Pujols will come off the bench for N.L. manager Bobby Valentine. Pujols is hitting .339 with 21 home runs and 66 runs batted in. Matt Morris is the second Cardinal headed to Seattle, the righthander is 10-4 on the season with a fine 2.65 ERA. Both Pujols and Morris are appearing in their first All-Star game.
