Governor Bob Holden is defending his decision to issue an executive order, late Friday afternoon, extending collective bargaining rights to tens of thousands of state government employees. The Governor says the right to unionize for state workers will be in the best interests of the state and of its employees. He says he did not call a news conference Friday afternoon because he was busy with other issues.
