Missouri Democrats are preparing to head into the second half of the legislative session, optimistic about passing many of the party’s priorities. That optimism comes despite some differences on a number of key issues. Some Democrats rejected Governor Holden’s solution to the current budget shortfall and there is disagreement in the ranks over how to spend money from the national tobacco settlement. But Representative Ted Farnen of Mexico, who chairs the House Democratic Caucus, insists different elements of the party are on the same page. Farnen says many of the disagreements are tied to the urban-rural split, but he’s confident the party faithful will come together to push a united agenda in the remaining weeks of the session.
