A bill that would have accelerated the state takeover of the Kansas City School District has died in a House committee. By one vote, the House Education Committee spiked the bill sponsored by Representative Marsha Campbell of Kansas City. She is now considering alternatives such as amending another bill in the House. If the Kansas City School District doesn’t regain accreditation it would be subject to state takeover in June of next year.
