Former State Representative, now State Senator Pat Dougherty will have to adjust to more than one change as he moves to the upper chamber. Dougherty was the only Democrat to win during last week’s special senate elections, keeping the St. Louis district in the hands of Democrats. He will have to adjust to new surroundings after spending about a quarter of a century in the House and he will have to adjust to being in the minority party for the first time. Dougherty says he expects the two parties to find common ground this year in an effort to pass needed legislation.
