A veteran state senator who has never been quiet about his dislike of term limits has softened his approach. Senator John Schneider of St. Louis has sponsored a proposal to lengthen term limits from eight years to 12. It has passed a Senate committee and been sent to the full Senate.Schneider would prefer to eliminate term limits altogether, arguing the legislature will be crippled by a lack of experience when term limits fully kick-in in two years. Schneider has been in the Senate for 30 years.
