The only republican to take a statewide job away from a democrat in this year’s elections is Matt Blunt, elected the new secretary of state. He tells backers in Springfield he’s glad they stuck with him. “I’m grateful to everyone here for their support. Southwest Missouri has been important in this effort and I’m grateful for your help.” He credits a good plan and a positive campaign for the victory. Blunt’s father, Roy, was the secretary of state for two terms before going to Congress.
