Jeff Suppan was terrific, but Sidney Ponson was better, and the Orioles beat the Royals 2-1. Suppan allowed just one run in seven innings, and was stuck with no decision. Ponson went 8 innings and allowed just a single run, and became the winner when his teammates scored in the 8th against reliever Kris Wilson. Jeff Conine’s ground-rule double snapped a 1-1 tie. The Royals only run came on Jermaine Dye’s 30th home run. In the first three games of the series, the Orioles have scored only two runs in 25 innings against Kansas City’s starters. The Royals and O’s play the finale of their series tonight.
