The U.S. Education Secretary tells Missouri delegates to the democratic national convention that Bill Clinton’s successes can only continue under the leadership of Al Gore. Secretary of Education Richard Riley says the gathering of Democrats in Los Angeles contrasts sharply with the Republican National Convention two weeks ago in Philadelphia. Riley agrees with a New York Times editorial that suggested the GOP convention was “scripted emptiness.” He says he’s proud of the accomplishments of the Clinton Administration and believes the success can continue if the country allows the vice president to succeed Clinton.
