Missouri’s Children’s Trust Fund is starting some pilot programs to teach people that they can’t make a baby stop crying by shaking the child. Executive director Bill Heberle says the programs at hospitals in Columbia, Independence, and Jefferson City teach parents to stop their baby’s crying by massaging the child. He says the agency will be evaluating the technique for several years to see if it has an effect.
