It’s an odd situation for the defending champion, but you don’t hear much about the Rams’ chances of repeating. People are pointing to Washington and Tampa Bay as the teams to beat in the NFC, and already, early in camp, Rams coach Mike Martz is using that as motivation for his club. The Rams are essentially missing only a couple offensive linemen from last year’s roster. Linebacker Mike Jones says he doesn’t mind being overlooked. He figures it keeps the pressure off.Rams Grant Wistrom and D’Marco Farr are rehabbing from off-season surgeries and are not practicing at full speed yet. Kevin Carter is sitting out with a sprained ankle, and Ray Agnew has a sore knee, meaning the entire starting defensive line from last year sat out practice on Monday. Pro Bowl Cornerback Todd Lyght may end up signing the Rams one-year tender offer of just over 4-million dollars a year. Lyght was a restricted free agent and didn’t receive any offers from other teams, because the Rams probably would have matched any offers. The Rams are still negotioating with quarterback Kurt Warner’s agent on a new, long-term deal. Warner signed for the league minimum so he could be in camp on time.
