Gas prices have been coming down lately, but state officials are still concerned about the high prices’ negative impact on Missouri’s economy. Joe Driskill, the Director of the Department of Economic Development, is concerned about jobs. He says there is “absolutely no doubt” that it will cost jobs because of the high volume of traffic on Missouri’s Interstates 70 and 44. Driskill says a study conducted in June suggests high prices could cause 20,000 direct or indirect job losses in Missouri over the course of the year.
