Johnny Damon laced four doubles to lead the Royals past the Cubs 12-4. Damon also robbed Henry Rodriguez of a home run and added a single. His four doubles tied the major league record, and established a new Royals mark. The win snaps a 2-9 slump at Kauffman Stadium for Kansas City. The Royals banged out a season-high 20 hits, including 11 for extra bases. They got homers from Joe Randa, Mike Sweeney and Jermaine Dye. Blake Stein earned his first victory, pitching 7 and 1/3 innings, while allowing four runs. The Royals visit Cleveland to play the Indians tonight. Mac Suzuki will start against Chuck Finley.
