Mark McGwire will miss Tuesday’s all-star game because of a knee injury. McGwire is nursing tendinitis in his knee, and didn’t play in the Cardinals’ weekend series against the Giants. The Cardinals will still have three representatives at the mid-summer classic. Shortstop Edgar Renteria has been added to the roster as a reserve, and will join Jim Edmonds and Darryl Kile.McGwire joins an illustrious list of stars who will miss the game because of injury. Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Bonds, Cal Ripken, Greg Maddux, Mike Piazza, Pedro Martinez, Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez are all hurt.
