Royals’ first baseman Mike Sweeney is going to the all-star game, and this time he’s playing. Sweeney has been added to the American League roster. Royals’ right fielder Jermaine Dye was voted in as a starter. Sweeney says he attended the all-star game in 1989 as a 15-year old fan. That was the last time the Royals had two all-stars. Bo Jackson and Mark Gubicza made it that year.Cardinals’ center fielder Jim Edmonds and pitcher Darryl Kile have been added to the National League roster by Braves manager Bobby Cox. Edmonds is hitting .342 with 24 homers, and Kile is 11-5. Edmonds will be making his second all-star appearance, and Kile is an all-star for the third time, though he has never actually appeared in the game.
