An America growing older has many people concerned about a lack of medical professionals who are qualified to treat the needs of the elderly. But C.C. Swarens, Executive Vice President of the Missouri State Medical Association, doesn’t share that concern. He says more and more young doctors are choosing geriatrics as a career instead of pediatrics or other medical fields. He adds many healthcare professionals are switching from their current fields to deal with the aging population. Swarens is confident there will be a sufficient number of doctors available to tend to the needs of the growing number of elderly citizens.
