Special teams were a major focus during the Chiefs’ first mini-camp of this off-season. New punter Todd Sauerbrun, signed as a free agent, garnered praise after booming several kickoffs into the end zone. Kickoffs were a major problem for the Chiefs last year. The Chiefs have at least half a dozen players on the roster who are vying to replace the departed Tamarick Vanover as the team’s return specialist. One is Larry Parker, who fumbled a punt against the Colts last November, and didn’t get another chance all season. The Chiefs are also looking at veteran Kirby Dar Dar, who was one of their final roster cuts last season.
