An immunization bill passes the House and heads to the Senate, but at least one state representative questions whether it changes anything. Children attending day care centers and school would have to have shots for Hepatitis A and chicken pox if the bill becomes law. Yet State Representative Scott Lakin of Kansas City, long a champion of tougher state immunization laws, says the Missouri Department of Health could already require that. Lakin notes a philosophical exemption has been put in the bill and a provision requiring restaurants to make workers get a Hepatitis A shot has been taken out. Lakin also points out the bill comes with a pricetag of half a million dollars. Still, the bill with its additions and deletions goes to the Senate for consideration.
