Procrastination. The tendency to put things off until the last minute. Well, call the Royals “Team Procrastination.” Mark Quinn singled home the winning run with two outs in the ninth, and the Royals beat Tampa Bay 7-6. The Royals have now won six consecutive home games in their final at-bat. Jermaine Dye is the hottest hitter on the planet right now. He hit two home runs, including a grand slam. Dye leads the majors with eleven home runs, and has hit seven in the last seven games. The Royals could have wrapped up last night’s game before the bottom of the ninth, but blew a 6-1 lead, because that’s what procrastinators do. The Devil Rays scored two in the 7th, and three in the 8th, before Ricky Bottalico pitched a perfect ninth for the win. The Royals are off today, but will play an exhibition game against their Triple-A team in Omaha.
