One of Kansas City’s charter schools is the target of a blistering audit and might be forced to close. The audit of the Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology is cited for inadequate facilities, student safety and financial mismanagement. One of the big problems–hiring employees without proper background checks. The school is sponsored by Central Missouri State University, which ran the audit. CMSU has told the school it has to improve things by June first if it expects to reopen in the fall. The school has about 250 students.
