The Kansas City Chiefs has clear needs, and drafted to fill those needs. They picked eight players, and seven of them fit into the four areas where the Chiefs really needed help: Running back, receiver, secondary, and return man. Their top pick is Sylvester Morris, a 6-3 receiver with good speed out of Jackson State. The Chiefs hope Morris can stretch the field. They spent their next two picks on big defensive backs. With their second pick, the Chiefs selected 6-1 cornerback William Bartee from Oklahoma. They followed that pick with 6-2 safety Greg Wesley from Arkansas-Pine Bluff. On day two the Chiefs started with a pair of running backs. The 4th round pick was Frank Moreau of Louisville. Then they took Dante Hall of Texas A&M. They plan to make him their kick returner, after cutting Tamarick Vanover Friday. Like Vanover, Hall raises some character questions. He accumulated several tickets in college, for parking in the space reserved for the dean of students. He eventually left the team over a disagreement with coach R.C. Slocum. With their final three picks, the Chiefs selected cornerback Pat Dennis from Louisiana-Monroe, offensive tackle Darnell Alford from Boston College, and receiver Desmond Kitchings from Furman.
