Veteran outfielder Brian McRae failed in his attempt to make the Cardinal roster. McRae has been released. His chances took a severe blow when the Cards acquired outfielder Jim Edmonds last week. Catcher Rick Wilkins didn’t make the team either, but he has been sent to Triple A. The Cardinals still have 31 players in camp, so six more must be cut before Monday. The Cardinals lost to Florida 7-4. Starter Darryl Kile didn’t look great in his final spring tuneup. He allowed eight hits and four earned runs in six innings. Jim Edmonds was called out on strikes four times, which he says has never happened to him before. Eric Davis, who just started playing again after rehabbing a shoulder injury all spring, hit a solo home run for the Cards. Tony LaRussa says he plans to have Davis and J.D. Drew share duties in right field.
