The St.Louis police department is trying to figure out what to do with the 18-hundred pistols its officers use–whether to trade them in, send them to the manufacturer for an upgrade, or get the parts and do the upgrading itself. The manufacturer, Beretta, wants the department to trade in the guns so the company can re-sell them. Police officials say they don’t want their guns to be put back on the street. The police board hopes to decide within two or three months.
