Midway through the first round of the NCAA tournament, Missouri is the only team in the state left standing. The Tigers play North Carolina in the first round at 6:55 in Birmingham, Alabama. In their last three trips to the tournament, the Tigers have played in the 8/9 game in the first round. They lost to New Mexico last year, and beat Indiana in 1995. Carolina has the size advantage, with 7-footer Brendan Haywood, and 6-11 Kris Lang inside. The game features two great freshmen: Joseph Forte leads the Tar Heels in scoring at 16 points per game, and Kareem Rush averages 15 points for the Tigers. Carolina is 18-13, the Tigers are 18-12.
