A potential re-alignment plan for baseball is drawing heavy criticism from Cardinal camp. The plan would shift the Cardinals into the new Southeast division, with Atlanta, Florida, and Tampa Bay. The Cubs would be in a different division, which is unacceptable as far as the Cardinals are concerned. Team president Mark Lamping scoffed at the idea, and called the proposal “a typo.” The Cardinals took a pair of split squad games from the Dodgers Tuesday to improve to 5-1. Garrett Stephenson and four others combined on a 2-hitter in one game. New reliever John Hudek pitched two perfect innings for a win in the other game. Edgar Renteria hit his second home run of the spring, and Brian McRae stole his third base, so the sore knee that plagued him last year appears to be fine in the early going. Today, the Cards go up against the New York Mets.
