The biggest school district in St. Charles county has been staggered by news that it owes the state as much as four-million dollars more than originally calculated. Superintendent Dan Brown says it’s tied up with an attendance reporting problem and the district’s tax rate. The district already owes three million dollars because it miscalculated its kindergarten enrollment for a couple of years. And all of that is piled on top of an anticpated two-million dollar deficit this year.
